Common queries and details about using this utility.

Our free noindex checker scans HTML meta robots directives and server-level X-Robots-Tag HTTP response headers to verify if a webpage is open to search indexing or blocked from Googlebot and Bingbot. It highlights conflicting directives and detects robots.txt crawl traps that prevent crawlers from seeing your noindex tag.
A <meta name="robots"> tag is placed directly inside the HTML <head> section of a webpage. An X-Robots-Tag is an HTTP response header sent by the web server (such as Apache or Nginx). While both communicate identical directives to search engines, X-Robots-Tag can be applied to non-HTML assets like PDF documents, images, and JSON endpoints.
If a URL is blocked in robots.txt (via Disallow), search engine crawlers will never fetch or render the page. Because crawlers cannot access the HTML or response headers, they cannot see the noindex tag. If other websites link to that URL, search engines can still index the URL as an empty link without title or snippet descriptions.
De-indexing occurs the next time Googlebot re-crawls and re-processes the page. For high-authority, frequently crawled pages, this can take a few hours to several days. For less frequently crawled pages, it may take 1 to 2 weeks. You can expedite the process by requesting indexing in Google Search Console.
Yes! Use the 'Raw HTML & Headers (100% In-Browser)' tab in our tool. You can paste your HTML <head> markup or server response headers to validate directives offline with zero network transmission, keeping internal staging URLs completely private.
No. This free noindex checker live URL scanner communicates solely with the Telekit Tools backend to fetch HTTP headers and HTML markup, without tracking or third-party logging. In Code Inspector mode, all parsing executes 100% client-side inside your browser.

Yes! Press Alt+S or click the API Code button to open the Developer API & Integration Code Studio. You can copy or download 1-click standalone scripts across 6 languages (Python, TypeScript, cURL, PHP, Go, JSON) to automate indexing verification in deployment pipelines.
When conflicting directives are present (such as <meta name='robots' content='index'> and X-Robots-Tag: noindex), search engine crawlers adhere to the principle of least privilege: the most restrictive directive ('noindex') always wins. Our audit engine detects this clash, reduces your SEO health score, and flags it as a high-severity warning.
